hotelkhaolak.com is an independent guide to Khao Lak and the Andaman coast. We are a publisher, not a travel agency. We do not take payment, hold rooms, or arrange anything on your behalf — every booking finishes on the booking site we send you to, under its terms.

When you follow one of our links and book, the merchant pays us a share of what they earn. That is how this site earns, apart from Google AdSense, which may show ads here once you accept cookies, never personalised ones. There is no charge to you and no markup on the rate.

What a commission does not change

A partner cannot pay to appear here, to rank higher, or to be described more warmly. Nobody reviews our copy before it is published. We have turned down nothing so far because nobody has asked — and if that changes, this paragraph changes with it.

Where we get something wrong, we would rather hear it and fix it. The Similan and Surin parks close for the monsoon every year, and we say so on the homepage even though it costs us bookings, because a guide that only tells you the profitable half is not worth reading.

A connection worth naming

The person behind this site also owns Southern Travel (Thailand) Co., Ltd., a licensed tour operator based in Khao Lak. It is a separate business with its own staff and its own customers, and it sells tours on some of the same marketplaces this site links to.

That is a connection beyond the commission described above, so it belongs on this page rather than in a footnote. When you follow a link from one of our guides you usually land on a marketplace listing or a search result, not a single product — which means a tour from that company may appear among the options, alongside operators we have nothing to do with. We cannot honestly promise it never will.

What we can say is what we do not do. No page here is written to steer you toward it, no listing is ordered to favour it, and nothing on this site is chosen because of who operates it. The same rule in the section above applies here and applies hardest to ourselves.

The things people ask

Does a commission change which hotels you show me?

No. Every hotel on this site is listed because it is somewhere real people stay in Khao Lak and the surrounding provinces, and the order is not sold. We would rather tell you a place is wrong for you than earn once and lose you.

Do I pay more by booking through your links?

No. The rate is the partner’s own rate. Our commission is paid by the merchant out of their margin. If you found a cheaper price elsewhere, take it — and tell us, because that is useful information.

Are the prices on this site live?

Ours are not. The rates on our own pages are indicative figures from our own catalogue, which is why they are labelled “rates from”; real prices move constantly, and the authoritative one is whatever the partner shows you after you click through. Treat ours as a starting point for comparison, never as a quote. The Viator tour cards show Viator’s own indicative “from” price as of when the page was built, and the flight search on our flights page shows live prices if you accept cookies.

What happens when I click a booking link?

A booking link in our own pages goes through a redirect on this site that adds our partner ID. Links to Klook, KKday, Tiqets, Welcome Pickups, Kiwitaxi, GetTransfer, intui, BikesBooking, Localrent, GetRentacar, Yesim and Airalo then pass through the Travelpayouts network — KKday links also through the Involve Asia network, and Airalo links through the Impact network — on their way to the merchant. Links to Viator and GetYourGuide go to them directly. Each of those sees the visit and records it so we are credited. Our redirect writes one line to our server log — the time, the partner, the product and a label for the page the link was on — with no name, email or IP address in it. If you have accepted cookies, our server also tells Google Analytics about the click, as our privacy policy describes. Results in the flight search are the one exception: they go to the airline or agent through Travelpayouts, not through our redirect. Either way, we never see your booking or payment details.

Do you write reviews of places you have not been?

No. Where we describe a place first-hand we say so. Where we are summarising what is verifiably true — how far it is, when the park is open, what a room costs — we say that instead. We do not publish invented reviews or star ratings.
