About this site

An independent guide to Khao Lak, written to be checked rather than skimmed — and honest about where our knowledge stops.

Independent publisherLast reviewed 16 August 2026

hotelkhaolak.com covers Khao Lak and the wider Andaman coast: the marine parks, the beaches, the diving, the transfers that get you there, and the places to stay. It exists because most of what is written about this stretch of coast is either a booking page wearing an article’s clothes, or an article that quietly stops being true after the monsoon arrives.

We are a publisher, not an agency. Nothing is sold here. When you follow a link and book, the merchant pays us a share of what they earn, and that is the entire business model — set out in full in our affiliate disclosure.

For other creators

The merchant links on this site run through Travelpayouts, the affiliate network that pays the commission described above. If you write about travel and want the same arrangement, you can sign up through our referral link. It costs you nothing, and Travelpayouts may reward us for the referral — which is why this paragraph sits under a disclosure like every other link that can earn us money.

Method

How these pages get written

We start from things that can be checked: park opening seasons, ferry and transfer routes, distances and journey times, what a property publishes about itself. Where a fact has a season attached — and on this coast most of them do — we say which months it holds for rather than writing it flat.

Where we do not know something, the page says so instead of filling the gap with confident prose. That is a deliberate trade: it makes for less quotable writing and a guide you can act on.

Limits

What we cannot do for you

We cannot make, change or cancel a booking, see your reservation, or intervene with a hotel or operator on your behalf. Once you click through you are the merchant’s customer, under their terms and their cancellation policy, and they are who to contact.

We also cannot promise a price. Rates move, availability moves, and the marine parks close on the weather as much as on the calendar. Check the season before you book anything that depends on it — our best time to visit page is the honest version, including the months we would tell you to go somewhere else.

Questions

The things people ask

Have you been to these places?
Where a page describes somewhere first-hand it says so explicitly. Where it does not say so, treat it as researched rather than visited. We would rather be dull and accurate than warm and invented — a guide that makes up experiences is worthless the moment you catch it once.
Where do the prices come from?
Our own catalogue, which is why they read “rates from” rather than a quote. Live rates move constantly and we do not re-host them. The authoritative price is whatever the merchant shows you after you click through — ours is a starting point for comparison, nothing more.
Do you publish reviews or star ratings?
No invented ones, ever. Where you see a star count it is the property’s own published classification, not a score we assigned. We do not run a ratings system and we do not aggregate other people’s.
Why does the site tell me when not to come?
Because the Similan and Surin marine parks close for the monsoon, roughly 15 May to 15 October, and a guide that hides that to protect its own booking revenue is not a guide. It costs us money to say so on the homepage. It is still the right thing to put there.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, out of date, or reads as more confident than the evidence behind it, we want to know. A correction costs us nothing and a wrong fact about a ferry timetable can cost you a day. Our privacy policy covers what the site records while you read it.
